Baba Nanak’s philosophy signifies questioning and reasoning. At a young age his Bani talks of futility of customs. He believed in spiritual upliftment of an individual through values of truthfulness, love, modesty, empathy, and gratification and considered all physical or tangible customs insignificant. Baba Nanak suggested Oneness of Human values as true living and path to achieve ੴ सत नाम. He highlighted the futility of janeu (sacred thread) ceremony and considered it more important to make human values as ornamentation of the soul. The values are immortal and everything else perishes.
This has inspired the artist to create this embroidered artwork with Sami and Mehjabi to express the metaphor of cotton bud and its processing that Baba Nanak to denote human values. This Bani with its full grace has been lovingly embroidered in zardosi and chikankari with various name of the Divine to express the faith in his words.
