The precepts of social justice, human rights and integrity that Baba Nanak expresses in the verse has inspired the artist to create this embroidered artwork series as self-realisation about what is immoral. He explains that robbing others of their due right is comparable to eating carcass and this most sinful act cannot be annulled through any religious rituals.
The incident when Baba Nanak composed this shabad was about social order existing in the society, but the artist goes further to contemplate an answer from this metaphor, that if depriving the right of nature to prosper, for our greed is also immoral. Destroying forests could be as immoral as a Muslim consuming pork or Hindu eating a cow.
This has inspired me to create this artwork to have self realisation about the One Name behind all aspects of the Divine. Bani takes us into the world of Baba Nanak.
